February was a busy and exciting month and as a forum we completed our first official piece of work. Further to the Southampton City Council 2017 Budget Consultation, we submitted our official form response to confirm that we insist that the “Short Breaks” service via the Buzz Network is re-designed without making a saving and any cuts to the budget. 163 parents/carers/friends and family signed the petition and this was sent to Southampton City Council to officially respond. I will keep you posted on the outcome, thank you to you all for signing and sharing the petition.
At the beginning of February, as a forum we were asked to represent at the Southampton Local Area Join Ofsted Inspect. Myself and three parent representatives attended the official meetings and gave honest views and feedback in respect of how well the Local Authority are meeting our children’s and young people’s needs/ It was really interesting, and opened my eyes to how in depth the inspections are and the amount of work that is involved. We are yet to find the outcome of the inspecting but I will forward information as soon as it is available.
Thank you to all the parents and carers that gave input and feedback in the webinar, st schools throughout the inspection, and a special thank you to Forum members Stacey Richards, Gill Waring and Angi Carey for attending the meetings as parent representatives.
